What is worth seeing in Opolskie?
Opole Province is primarily a region filled with beautiful forests and lakes. Among the most famous lakes visited by tourists from all over Poland are undoubtedly: Nyskie Lake, Otmuchowskie Lake and Turawskie Lake. These are ideal places for summer recreation for those who love water frenzy. In addition to the lakes, Opole is also filled with beautiful rivers, so you can count on very pleasant and gentle canoeing routes here. But that's not all - below we present you (in our opinion) the most interesting tourist attractions of this province. Enjoy your reading.
1. Castle Moszna
Moszna Castle is one of the biggest tourist attractions of the Opole Province. It is famous at home and abroad for its irresistible charm due to its fairy-tale architecture. The facility features a restaurant, cafe, hotel and spa.
Staterooms are available for visitors, and one can also enjoy the view of the surroundings from the castle towers, and in summer stroll among the azaleas and rhododendrons that enrich the park in large numbers.

3. the Knights' Castle in Byczyna
We invite you to visit the Knights' Castle near Byczyna. It is here, in Biskupice, that you can travel back in time to the Middle Ages during the International Knight Tournaments and participate in workshops of ancient crafts on unforgettable school trips, summer knight camps and weekend stays.
You should also visit the torture room, armory, inns and other facilities in the sub-ground, which will provide you with an interesting adventure with the Middle Ages.
4. the Museum of Kneading in Prószkow
Welcome to the magnificent historic rooms of the smithy. We will move into the world of heated iron, learning the secrets of the blacksmith's profession, his workshop and tools. No less a real attraction is the demonstration of iron forging by traditional methods. There is an opportunity to buy souvenirs and put individual dedications or initials on them. We provide all the necessary tools and materials.
5. refuge under Biskupie Kopa
PTTK shelter “Pod Biskupią Kopą” named after Bohdan Małachowski is the only such facility in the Opawskie Mountains. It is located at an altitude of 765 meters above sea level, near the top of Biskupia Kopa in the Opawskie Mountains Landscape Park. We offer 50 beds (50 PLN/person), serve delicious meals, and organize numerous events.
6. recreation complex “Nad Białką” in Glucholazy
On nearly 3 hectares of land a leisure and sports complex was created. The heart of the facility is the swimming pool area consisting of a recreational pool with a swimming part (4 lanes, 25 meters) and a recreational part with water attractions. A paddling pool with a water umbrella and an “Elephant” slide was built for the youngest children. Additional attractions included in the complex are a playground, sand pitches for volleyball, soccer, as well as slides and a food court
7. trout fishery in Moszczanka
We invite you to spend some leisure time fishing for trout. The facility is located in the picturesque Opawskie Mountains near the Mill Mountain and operates all year round.
8. lagoon Kluczbork
We invite you to visit the picturesque lagoon located just 3 km from Kluczbork. Here you will find a sandy beach, sailing boats, canoes, accommodation and catering facilities, a playground and a hiking and biking trail. Numerous attractions await you in the area, including:

9. Byczyna
We invite you to Byczyna, not without reason called “Polish Carcasonne”, because of its 15th/16th century city walls, which are a rarity in the country. They surround the town with a 912-meter-long chain, and have two towers and a tower, which the municipality plans to open to the public. It is also worth seeing other numerous monuments of the medieval pearl of the Opole region, as well as learning about the town's secrets, secret places such as witches' meetings, or local stories such as those about the prominent astronomer Maria Cunitz, Pastor Köelling and Hetman Jan Zamojski. 10. Stumilowy Lasek
We invite whole families to spend their free time in the Hundred Acre Wood. Among the attractions the youngest will discover: fairy tale houses of the Forest residents, Fairy Tale Trail, Hobbit's house, Indian village, pirate ship, colorful carts, which you can ride through the Forest, locomotive “Winnie the Pooh Express”, and much more!
12. Opole Village Museum in Opole
The Opole Village Museum in Opole is the only open-air museum of its kind in the Opole province. Its activities date back more than 50 years, and during this time a great deal has been done. An open-air exhibition of wooden rural architecture monuments of Opole Silesia is available to tourists. This exhibition consists of 50 wooden buildings, which are fully equipped and decorated.
The museum is located amidst trees and flower meadows - which also makes it a great place for family walks and relaxing in nature.
13. Krapkowice Yacht Harbor
In Krapkowice, lovers of water attractions will find a yacht harbor. There is a rental shop for a variety of floating equipment, including canoes, motor boats, sailing boats, pedal boats, a sailing school or cruises on the Oder River on a walking boat.
14. cruises on the Oder River Ship Opolanin
Opole also offers cruises on the Opolanin ship on the Oder River. The cruise lasts 45 minutes and during the trip you can see many interesting sights of Opole, which seem more charming from the perspective of the Oder River. From the ship you can admire, among others, Opole Venice, the Town Hall, the Cathedral, the Piast Tower or the Franciscan Church.

17. Science and Entertainment Park in Krasiejów
JuraPark in Krasiejów is a unique place on the map of Opole region attractions, which is eagerly visited by families with children. Here you will find a mass of exciting surprises, Tunnel of Time, 5D Cinema, Prehistoric Oceanarium and Educational Path, where you can admire 250 models of dinosaurs. Complementing the Earth's histropy is the Science and Human Evolution Park.
19. Piast Tower in Opole
The Piast Tower in Opole is a remnant of the once-existing Piast Castle, which was located on the Oder's Pasieka Island. The tower is one of the oldest defensive architectural monuments in the country, and also serves as a symbol of Opole and Opole province.
Currently, the tower measures 35 meters and is open to tourists. Tours take place every half hour and last about 40 minutes. It's worth a visit, because in addition to the interesting stories of the guide, a multimedia show and amazing views of Opole and the surrounding area await you.
20. the Upper Castle in Opole
The Upper Castle is an attraction on the map of Opole, which was opened to tourists quite recently, in 2018. In fact, the last preserved element of the Upper Castle was given to the public, nevertheless, it is worth visiting this place, because during the 40-minute guided tour, you will learn many interesting historical facts.
According to available information, the castle was built between 1382 and 1387. Over hundreds of years, amazing stories must have happened within its walls....
What else is worth seeing in the Opole region? Opawskie Mountains
In addition to the tourist attractions we have mentioned, we must mention a few more places that you should definitely visit. Among them are, of course, the Opawskie Mountains with the most popular peak Kopa Biskupia. Especially on summer days, this gentle trail and the hostel there attract mountain hiking enthusiasts. It's an ideal trail for families with children, requiring little effort.
22. St. Anne's Mountain
Continuing our tour of the province, it is worth seeing for ourselves the beautiful sanctuary of Mount St. Anne. This is one of the favorite destinations for sacred tourism but not only. It is also a place to which cyclists often direct their footsteps - for Opole is famous for its beautiful bicycle routes.
23. Stobrawski Landscape Park
Another point on our map of attractions is the Stobrawski Landscape Park. This unique place is located near Opole (between Opole and Kluczbork) on an area of as much as 52,000 hectares. In this area there are many hiking and biking trails, as well as really many places worth seeing. We in good conscience recommend you to see the Dunes in Kosowce, the Park in Pokój and the Botanical Garden in Zagwidz.
24. Paczków and the Museum of Gas Industry
We are changing direction. On the map of cities worth visiting is Paczków - a charming town with a beautiful market square and town hall. It's worth walking through the streets of Paczkow and having a coffee in one of the local cafes. This, of course, is not the end of the story. The most famous attraction in the area is the Museum of Gas Industry, which we ourselves have had the opportunity to visit several times. There is a collection of gas meters and many old household appliances.
25. Opole - Museum of Polish Song and Opole Zoo
We will return to Opole for a moment more. There are two must-see points for every tourist here, namely the Muzuem Polskiej Piosenki and the Opole ZOO. The museum is a facility that was built relatively recently, so if you were in Opole from 10 years ago, it is certainly worth returning to discover this place. The museum is a kind of tribute to the Polish music scene. It presents the history of Polish music from the 1920s to the present day.
The Opole Zoological Garden is one of the gems of the region. It is an ideal place for a stroll for both families with children and groups of youngsters. It is also one of the most popular destinations for school trips. At the zoo you will see giraffes, rhinos, pandas, gorillas, anteaters and various species of monkeys and apes. There is also the only pool with California sea lions - you are especially welcome at feeding time. There is a lot to look at!
